United Polities is a growing alliance of towns and cities committed to a shared principle: human rights are not abstract ideals—they are local responsibilities.
Rooted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, our movement supports communities in putting those principles into practice. Whether it’s housing, education, public safety, or civic engagement, we believe the foundation of human dignity should be built into the policies that shape daily life—not left to chance, charity, or political cycles.
Through a structured petition process, residents can initiate their town’s participation in the United Polities. Once joined, a community becomes part of a broader democratic network—working together to uphold shared standards of transparency, accountability, equity, and solidarity.
Our goal is to support local governance that reflects the values of its people. We provide tools and guidance for communities to draft charters, establish councils, and implement reforms—from land policy to budgeting—that reflect human rights commitments at every level.
This is not a symbolic gesture. It is a pathway for communities to claim a meaningful role in shaping their future—together, and on their own terms.
We are not waiting for permission.
We are establishing a new standard for local democracy—one community at a time.
Our Mission
To live in a world where the rights and freedoms of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are experienced in full effect.
The Declaration
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was created in 1948 following WWII. In it, there are 30 Articles that outline the human rights that many provincial and national Constitutions either do not protect or outright deny.
In the United States, food is a commodity and not a de jure right, so charity and mutual-aid food banks guarantee it as de facto right instead. This issue, and every road block to human rights that exists, is multifaceted and must be tackled in a similar manner. That is why the United Polities was formed as a social welfare organization to guarantee these rights through the syndication of pro-human rights polities and the mandate of the declaration into our local town charters, state and national Constitutions through representative or direct democracy.
